This should work as log as firefox works. They use the rss feed to display the episodes and lauch firefox to display the movie.

BOXEE FORUMS CODE

Basically, every time developers provide any kind of hook to hulu videos, the hulu developers quickly redesign their code to block that feature.

BOXEE FORUMS SOFTWARE

Neither do any other equivalent software tools like xbmc, miro, etc. Woodsman wrote:Last I checked boxee does not support hulu. A few clicks of the mouse and then I relax and become a couch potato for 45 minutes. Using a web browser and mouse does not bother me at all. The wireless RF mouse and web browser might not have a high coolness factor, but are completely functional. Of course, the hulu player can be run stand-alone. If enabling Flash cookies is not a big deal, then that might be an option. I seem to recall reading where somebody configured xbmc to run the hulu player as a plugin. I built this system before I started using Debian and have not converted that box to Debian. I use xbmc to watch all other videos on my htpc.

I have been using Firefox 3.5.x (currently 3.5.8 ) for a long time and I always watch hulu videos full screen. I never have used Iceweasel so I don't know if the same crashing problem exists. That problem disappeared with the 3.5.x series. I probably should program some remote control buttons to start and stop Firefox.įirefox 3.0.x was known to crash any time Flash was run in full screen mode. I also have a Firefox shortcut available. I created some K-Menu shortcuts to match the same hulu bookmarks I created in Firefox. I use a web browser and a wireless RF mouse to watch hulu videos on my htpc. Sure would be nice to read such a how-to. I have yet to read anything of anybody using a remote control device with a web browser. The hulu player is intended to work with a remote control.

A web browser with Adobe Flash will run hulu videos just fine. At least for now, that is not a requirement with a web browser and Adobe Flash. Worse, the hulu player will not run at all unless Flash cookies are enabled. I have not found the hulu player as easy to use as a web browser.

The content owners dictate how the hulu folks may provide the videos.Īs mentioned, the hulu folks provide a player. The problem is not the hulu folks as much as the naive content owners.

This has been a continuing cat-and-mouse game with the hulu people for a few years now. Sticking with WD would have been preferable, but I can’t honestly see them putting in the effort necessary to make that happen.Last I checked boxee does not support hulu. D-Link’s longer-term approach to improving it once this initial rush calms down is going to speak volumes about their commitment to it, and I’m hopeful that they can figure it out. But right now a lot of them are being picked up by early adopters, or people shopping for Christmas. It will be interesting to see what happens with the Boxee Box over the next three months or so because the potential for it to be the killer media streamer - at least on paper - is certainly there. While I certainly have my issues with WD’s approach to their units (and have been vocal about it), the overwhelming impression I’m getting is that all of the current generation of devices have basically been rushed to market, keeping them in a perpetual beta state with all that that entails. I’m rather relieved to hear this coming from someone who can make a direct comparison between both units from a long-term ownership standpoint. If WD can add more services, and better Metadata collection, it’s going to win the race. But in terms of stability, the WD Hub mops the floor with the BB. In terms of FEATURES, the boxee may well rule the roost. Look at the list of issues here versus the list of issues at Boxee, and you’ll see what I am talking about. Ya know, I admit that I am partial to the WD. I’ll certainly chekc out your youtube channel. I kind of like it but has to support media servers like PlayOn.

BOXEE FORUMS PLUS

It will either be another WD Live Plus unit or the Boxee Box. I can see room for improvement, but this is the wrong place to start such a discussion unless we get a specific forum for Boxee Box here (hahahaha).

BOXEE FORUMS PC

I installed Boxee Box on my PC (something like Hulu desktop). This will tie everything together at my place. Thanks melll :) As for DLNA business: can OTHER DLNA devices see the Boxee via DLNA? In this case, for example, the WD Live Plus seeing the Boxee Box. Not sure what PlayOn is, but it can share all the media hooked up to Boxee Box to any device on its network, through wifi or ethernet port…ĬHECK OUT MY CHANEL FOR TONS OF BOXEE BOX VIDEOS I MADE Yes it is DLNA capable, I can see files from my Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant on my Boxee Box for example.
